Bio:

Prof. Liat Shklarski is Assistant Professor and Chair of the Clinical Practice Method at the Silberman School of Social Work, Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY). Her research focuses on perinatal mental health, innovation in social work education, clinical supervision, and the effects of trauma and crisis — including the COVID-19 pandemic and conflict-related trauma — on mental health professionals and practice.

Prof. Shklarski is the author and editor of several books, including A Contemporary Approach to Clinical Supervision: The Supervisee Perspective (Routledge, 2021) and From Grad School to Private Practice: A Roadmap for Mental Health Clinicians (Cognella, 2023), as well as co-editor of volumes on social work education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her more recent work examines the use of generative AI in social work education, shared trauma among therapists working in conflict zones, and the role of perinatal care providers in recognizing and supporting maternal mental health needs.
