The Division of Global Engagement invites University of Haifa faculty members to apply for funding to support international research and academic conferences hosted at the University during the 2026/27 academic year.

Funding will be awarded to up to five conferences, with grants of up to NIS 25,000 per conference.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, a conference must:

• Take place at the University of Haifa;
• Include at least two full days of academic activities;
• Feature at least two internationally recognized speakers from abroad, who are faculty members at overseas universities or leading non-academic experts in their field;
• Demonstrate a significant scientific contribution to advancing research in Israel and internationally.

Priority will be given to conferences that:

• Foster international collaborations leading to joint Horizon Europe grant proposals;
• Have additional funding sources, including faculty or departmental matching funds.

Funding

The grant may be used only to cover:

• Airfare for invited international speakers.
• Hotel accommodation in Haifa.

The funding applies to in-person or hybrid international conferences. All expenses must be processed through the University’s SAP system and managed via the faculty or department cost center.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted jointly by the organizing faculty member and the faculty administration.

Applicants are required to:

• Complete the online application form;
• Submit a detailed conference budget by email, including:
  • names of the invited international speakers;
  • their home institutions;
  • estimated airfare and accommodation costs;
  • details of any additional funding sources.

Important Dates

• Application deadline: 17 September 2026, 11:00 AM
• Conferences must conclude no later than 30 September 2027.
• Final financial reports must be submitted by 31 October 2027.
