Bio:

Prof. Iain D. Couzin is a world-leading scholar in the study of collective animal behavior, swarm intelligence, and biodiversity. He serves as Director at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and is internationally recognized for his interdisciplinary approach, integrating biology, physics, computation, and systems science to understand how coordinated group behavior emerges in animals.

He has published extensively in leading scientific journals, including NatureScience, and PNAS, and his research has fundamentally reshaped our understanding of collective decision-making, information transfer, and resilience in animal groups. By combining field experiments, advanced tracking technologies, and mathematical modeling, Professor Couzin’s work provides insights that extend from ecological conservation to robotics and artificial intelligence.
