Bridging Cultures Through Art: Honoring Joseph Bau with the Ambassador of Poland

This Month, the University of Haifa welcomed H.E. Maciej Hunia, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Israel, for a landmark event hosted by the Interdisciplinary Unit for Polish Studies:

 “Joseph Bau – From Poland to Israel: Conference and Exhibition Opening”

This special gathering celebrated the extraordinary life and artistry of Joseph Bau, a Holocaust survivor, artist, and storyteller whose creative journey bridged Poland and Israel. The exhibition and conference highlighted his enduring cultural legacy, underscoring the profound historical and artistic ties between our nations. Ambassador Hunia’s participation underscored the importance of academic and cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding. We are grateful for his visit and look forward to deepening collaborations between Poland and the University of Haifa.

France-Israel Academic Collaboration: A Visit from Consul General Georges Diener

The Division of Global Engagement was honored to welcome Mr. Georges Diener, Consul General of France in Haifa, accompanied by colleagues Ms. Ilana Cicurel and Ms. Daphna Lebowitz from the Consulate General in Tel Aviv, for a meeting at the University of Haifa.

The delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with President Gur Alroey, VP Tally Katz-Gerro, VP Oren Gazal-Ayal, DEI Commissioner Arin Salamah-Qudsi, and Dr. Emmanuelle Blanc from the School of Political Sciences. Together, they explored new avenues for Franc-Israeli academic cooperation, including: Joint conferences and exhibitions, Student and faculty exchange programs, and research initiatives in political and social sciences

This visit reinforced our commitment to strengthening ties with France and creating meaningful opportunities for cross-cultural learning. We look forward to turning these discussions into impactful collaborations.
