Celebrating the First Cohort of Global Engagement Research Fund Recipients! 

The Division for Global Engagement is proud to congratulate the inaugural recipients of the Global Engagement Research Fund. This initiative is designed to foster research collaborations between scholars at the University of Haifa and partner institutions worldwide.  The fund provides initial support for high-quality research projects in areas of mutual strength and shared interest. Open to academic staff at both institutions, it enables researchers to undertake short-term projects that strengthen collaborations, paving the way for joint proposals to external funding sources or co-authored publications in top-tier journals.  While applications from all subject areas are welcome, priority in this round has been given to research partnerships with the University of Haifa’s strategic partners:
Vanderbilt University,University of Cincinnati,University of Hamburg, University of Potsdam, and HFBK.

UHaifa’s School of Archaeology Launches New International Masters:

The School of Archaeology and Maritime Cultures has launched a new international master’s program, offering students a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of the Mediterranean region. With world-class faculty and hands-on fieldwork, this program provides an unparalleled academic experience in one of the most historically significant areas of the world. International Bachelor’s Program (BA) in Multidisciplinary Studies:

The University of Haifa offers a new two-year Bachelor’s program in Multidisciplinary Studies, designed to provide students with a broad academic foundation across various disciplines. All courses are taught in English and cover diverse aspects of Israeli society within historical, cultural, and political contexts. The program includes language studies (Hebrew and Arabic) and offers online learning flexibility. Graduates will be equipped with critical skills for today's dynamic job market, with opportunities for both local and international careers.

Florida International University and UNC-Chapel Hill Host University of Haifa Delegation to Advance Collaborative Partnerships:

A delegation from the University of Haifa recently visited Florida International University to explore possible collaborative efforts. The President, Prof. Alroey, Vice President for Global Engagement, Prof. Tally Katz-Gerro, and the Academic Head of the International School, Prof. Adar Ben-Eliyahu, met with President Prof. Kenneth Jessell, Deans, and faculty from SIPA, CEC, ORED, CASE, SCPHSW, NWCNHS, SEHD, CARTA. Additionally, the Vice President for Global Engagement, Prof. Tally Katz-Gerro, met with Barbara Stephenson and Melissa McMurray at UNC-Chapel Hill. It was a great visit, we look forward to taking the corporation with FIU and UNC to the next level!

University of Haifa Hosts Germany and Austria Ambassadors to Foster Collaboration and Cultural Exchange:

Last month, the University of Haifa welcomed German Ambassador Mr. Steffen Seibert, reaffirming the strong ties between Germany and the University. He also met with students for an open discussion. Additionally, we hosted Austrian Ambassador Mr. Nikolaus Lutterotti and Ms. Lara Stock, focusing on fostering academic collaborations with Austrian universities and promoting German language studies. A highlight of their visit was a tour of the Hecht Museum, showcasing the cultural richness we strive to preserve.

University of Haifa Hosts Goethe University Frankfurt President for Collaborative Discussions:

The Division for Global Engagement had the honor of hosting Prof. Enrico Schleiff, President of Goethe University Frankfurt. Prof. Schleiff signed an MoU and a student exchange agreement, strengthening academic ties between our institutions. 
He met with the University of Haifa  Rector, Prof. Mouna Maroun; VP for Global Engagement, Prof. Tally Katz-Gerro; and Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Tal Zarsky. A particularly meaningful moment occurred when Prof. Zarsky shared a doctoral dissertation written by his grandmother's sister in 1934 at Goethe University. 
Prof. Schleiff also explored the Hecht Museum and the Institute of Evolution, further deepening his engagement with our academic community. We look forward to fostering new opportunities for students and researchers alike!
